This laundry detergent recipe is economical and fun to make. Pick your own scent - I personally love Dr. Bronner's Soaps!

Ingredients:

-Bar of Soap
-1 cup borax
-1 cup washing soda
-20 drops of Essential oils (optional)
-5 gallon bucket with lid

Directions:

1. Grate a full bar of soap with a cheese grater or food processor.
2. Place grated soap in a pot with 1 quart (4 cups) of water. Turn heat to medium-high and stir until completely melted (10-12 minutes).
3. Fill up a 5 gallon bucket half way with hot water. Pour in the melted soap, along with the borax and washing soda. Add essential oils if you desire.
4. Stir really well, and then fill the rest of the bucket up with warm water.
5. Give it a final stir, and snap the lid on the top. Allow mixture to settle for 24 hours.
6. After 24 hours, the mixture should be watery with gel globs. Pour into empty containers (such as clean milk jugs, empty laundry containers, etc).

How to Use:

Use ½ cup-1 cup per each load.

Notes:

This makes a lot of laundry detergent! Make sure you have multiple containers to fill up!
